Overview

Everything Your Robotic Cutting Job Needs.

A high-speed diamond-tipped cutter is introduced through an existing access point and guided by a colour camera, so obstructions are removed precisely instead of dug out.

It clears the line and prepares it for relining in the same visit, and it is how junctions are cut and reinstated after a liner goes in.

What's included

  • Obstruction located on camera before any robotic cutting begins.
  • Diamond cutter head matched to the pipe material and diameter.
  • Roots, brick, concrete, steel and hardened grease milled out.
  • Pipe wall left smooth and ready for a liner where relining follows.
  • Junctions cut out and reinstated after relining.
  • Camera verification of the finished line before we leave.

Common Situations

When You Need Help With Robotic Cutting

Tell us what is happening - roots back again after a previous cut, a hard blockage that jetting will not shift, a line scaled up from years of buildup - and we will camera it and tell you whether cutting is the right tool or something else is.

Call us if you notice:

Some blockages will not come out with water.

Inclusions

What's Included In Our Robotic Cutting Service

  • CCTV survey first, so your Robotic Cutting work targets the actual obstruction.
  • Remote cutter introduced through an existing opening - no excavation.
  • Operator-guided milling at the exact distance and angle required.
  • Milled debris flushed from the line before anything else is done.
  • Junction reinstatement and structural patching where relining has taken place.
  • Camera check of the cleared line and written findings.

Why It Matters

Robotic Cutting, done properly.

Cutting is the difference between a line that is clean and a line that is ready. The obstruction goes, the pipe wall is left smooth, and a liner installed afterwards bonds to clean pipe instead of to root matter.

  • Cutters sized to 100–225mm pipe, so the wall is not damaged.
  • Roots cut at the entry point, then the joint is inspected.
  • Junctions reinstated and patched, not left open to roots.

On The Day

What to expect.

We confirm the arrival window, protect the area, run the camera to locate the obstruction, mill it out under camera guidance, then flush and verify the line before handover.

  • Existing access point used for entry and extraction.
  • Cutting done under live camera guidance, debris flushed out.
  • Final camera pass and a clear recommendation on the next step.

How It Works

Three steps. No surprises.

1

Call or Book

One conversation. We work out whether this is a root problem, a hard blockage or a line that needs preparing before relining.

2

Diagnose & Quote

The camera locates and measures the obstruction, and the cutter is set up to suit the pipe material and diameter.

3

Fix & Guarantee

The obstruction is milled out, the line is flushed, and you get camera proof of the result plus what we recommend next.

The Tool And The Job

Why a camera-guided cutter beats a cable and a guess

A drain machine works blind. A robotic cutter works with eyes on the obstruction as it is removed.

Licensed & Insured · Upfront Pricing · Workmanship Guaranteed

A traditional drain machine is fed into a line with no way of knowing what it is cutting or how far it has travelled. The robotic cutter carries a camera on the same assembly, so the operator can see the obstruction, position the tool against it, and work through it millimetre by millimetre. On intricate pipe layouts - old systems with junctions, changes of direction and sections out of alignment - that visibility is the whole difference between a clean cut and a damaged pipe.

It also reaches things water cannot. A high-pressure jet removes soft buildup and root growth, but it will not shift a brick that has fallen into a line, a slab of set concrete, a length of steel reinforcing or a wall of hardened grease. Those are milling jobs, and without robotic cutting the only alternative is to dig down to the pipe and open it up.

Once the obstruction is out, the debris is flushed and the line is checked on camera. If relining follows, it happens on a pipe that has been left smooth and clear, which is the condition a liner needs to bond properly. If relining is not warranted, you still have a clear line, footage of what was in there, and an honest note on whether the opening the roots came through needs sealing.

Where It's Used

Four jobs that call for a cutter

Robotic cutting is used both to clear lines and to finish relining work properly.

Ask about robotic cutting
Root removal Root masses cut out of the joint they entered, then the joint is inspected for the repair that stops them returning.
Hard obstructions Brick, concrete, steel and rubble milled out of a line that no amount of jetting would clear.
Scale and grease Set grease and mineral scale milled back to pipe wall on lines where buildup has closed the bore in.
Junction reinstatement Branch lines reopened through a cured liner at the correct angle, then structurally patched.

Good to Know

Robotic Cutting FAQs.

Quoted as a fixed price once the camera has located and measured the obstruction, because the number depends on what has to be cut, the pipe diameter and how much of the run is affected. It is far cheaper than excavating a driveway or slab to reach the same blockage by hand.

Tree roots, brick and masonry fragments, concrete, steel offcuts, hardened grease and mineral scale - provided the pipe itself is sound. It works in pipe from 100mm to 225mm in diameter and on any pipe material, and it also smooths rough edges and lips left by a previous repair.

Yes, on most relines. Once the liner is cured, the branch lines are closed over and have to be reopened. The cutter is run back through at each junction and opened precisely, then the junction is patched so roots cannot get in around the cut. That reinstatement step is what makes a reline hold.

They will, if nothing is done about the opening they came through. Cutting restores flow but the joint, crack or worn section is still there, and roots find moisture. On lines where roots keep returning we recommend sealing or relining the affected section after the cut, and we will show you the joint on camera so the recommendation makes sense.

Not if it is set up properly. Cutter heads are matched to the pipe material and diameter, and the whole operation is run under live camera guidance so the operator is watching the tool as it works. On fragile clay or thin-walled pipe, the camera findings decide whether cutting is safe or whether the section should be replaced.

Fast, honest and tidy — quoted upfront and finished when they said it would be. Exactly what you want when a pipe fails.
